The next customer used Wicklen LTD over 12 years ago to replace his defective kitchen waste water drain. This time however it was due to a defective rainwater drain, the drain was allowing an escape of rainwater every time it rained and subsequently over decades had slowly deteriorated the boundary wall between our customer and his neighbour. Our customers land is higher than his neighbours so the defective drain leaking underground on his side, was still above ground level on his neighbours. Due to this leak it had deteriorated the wall on his neighbours side but also caused a severe crack to form through the structure as well . Firstly we replaced the defective drain and checked the remaining system with the cctv camera to ensure it was in an adequate condition. Next, we excavated and removed the saturated underground soil along side his wall and allowed a drying out period. A dry permeable aggregate and membrane was then added to protect the wall. Onto the neighbours side… the wall was structurally strengthened, all damaged brick cut out and removed, new bricks laid in replacement and the brickwork repointed to colour match the pre-existing. Job complete! The kitchen drain from 12 years prior was still working perfectly aswell! Client Happy. Neighbour Happy, Wicklen ltd Happy.

Every time it rained this client was outside with his waterproof jacket on, with his broom sweeping the rainwater away from his drains to stop his double garage flooding. Away from the drains you ask?!… This was because the soakaway that had been installed by the company who laid the driveway, had failed… He had diverted all downpipes from the roof to try and help the situation (see photos) but the surface water off the driveway simply filled up his surface gullies then the rain continued to flow underneath his garage doors flooding his garages.. We installed a new drainage system connecting to his existing system and voila,  problem solved! He did go out in his waterproof jacket the first time it rained but this time he didn’t need the broom..

Our front soakaway had failed and was leading to our garage to begin flooding. We called Wicklen Ltd due to their very strong reviews and experience in this area. The original telephone conversation received from this primary school was regarding a severe smell and blocked toilets, the smell so severe the school had to close on several occasions. It also hired portaloos to try and prevent using the drainage system and remain open for the young pupils and staff.

Investigations were carried out and a section of the pipework inside an internal inspection chamber had collapsed. Resulting in the system being unusable and creating the severe stench.

The primary school itself dates back to 1800s when the school originally had two external toilets, one Female and one male, if you fast forward to now, there is over ten female and ten male toilets for pupils, staff toilets, a disabled toilet and also a canteen all of which is flowing to the original drainage system that was only ever designed for two toilets . This is very common when buildings have what we call “add ons” when a new section of building is installed.

We reconstructed the internal collapsed inspection chamber, together with a section of pipework upstream. This defect was situated inside the staff room. Following flow tests it was all flowing satisfactory.

Blocked Drainage Pipe – We called Keith at Wicklen’s as we had a smell inside the school but could not find the problem. Their lovely team came out did a camera survey in the drains and quickly discovered a collapsed drain pipe in the staff room causing a blockage. Over a few days the concrete floor was dug up, blockage removed, pipe replaced and concrete floor and carpet tiles back down. We were up and running. Very clean workers 5 Stars !”  (trust a trader)
